Devastation

Posted by LadyArsenic - February 22nd, 2008

Hey guys, Lady Arsenic here, unfortunately bringing bad news.
I made it to All State, as I've told you before. I gathered my money and stayed up all night waiting for the trip to the beach. Well, about a week ago I developed a really bad allergy attack, and even with medicine I've been so congested and coughing that I was afraid I might not be able to even go. It all cleared up a few days ago, just before I was going to leave for All State.
I was so excited and ready to go to the beach (I had never been there in this area before), and perform with singers with the same abilities as myself, and couldn't wait. Yesterday was the 3-day trip, and everything was beautiful. I had reached my dream to go to All State. I made it in my first and final try (I don't have the opportunity to do it next year). I was going strong through the day with rehearsal after rehearsal, but by the time night rehearsal my voice crashed. I had coughing fits every 10 minutes. Everything I'd worked so hard for to get better slowly crumbled, and left me without mercy. The next morning, I came to morning rehearsal, hoping to make up for what I had done the prior night, and the director called me up to the podium and permanently dismissed me from the choir because of my "health condition."
In a nutshell, folks, I reached my dream as a reward for everything I had worked so hard for to get kicked out of the choir and go back home. I learned the music, I studied hard, and then when the time came to reap what I sewed, I got sent home empty-handed.
Anyway, I'm not complaining, but only informing all of you that for the remainder of the day and possibly a little while afterwards I am going to be bitter as hell and in a terrible mood.
Thank you all for listening.

I know how bad personally allergies can be!

>=( Allergies are EVIL. They costed me a good time, that they did!

wow...i'm really sorry about that, i've already passed through this and i know how bad it is...i'm really sorry and I hope for this to get better^^

It's alright. =3 Day by day I feel a little less regretful about going back into the chorus room at school (if only the other girl who went wouldn't stop wearing the damned All State T-shirt... It's almost like mocking me. > >; ).
I think the hardest part was having to explain to all of the people in my school chorus who knew I went, who eagerly would run up and go "Hey, how was All-State? Have fun?" And I'm like "You BASTARDS! ToT "
Anywho... Yeah, I'm doing better. =) Thank you for worrying.

At least you made it.

But I've been promoted to being the lead bass in the adult choir at church, making me the youngest person in the adult choir, woots.

It sucks that that happened, but don't let it discourage you. You've got a brilliant voice, and you've got plenty of supporters here.

Thank you very much. And wow, way to go! ^ ^ I'm sure they allowed you in for a reason. <3
But yeah, I'm trying my hardest not to let it get me down!

Sadly, the reason is that all the other basses are incapable of singing, for reasons ranging from a broken ankle to being on their deathbed. :/

Kinda depressing, really.

o_O Oh my goodness, how grim!

aw :[ that totally sucks...but you know what they say, shit happens...doesn't change the fact that ur an amazing singer / musician. With your ability I'm sure you'll have several more opportunities like this...hopefully with better luck :D

Thank you for your kind words. Of course, what happened will make me strive harder for bigger goals, because now I know what I have to do next year. I will keep trying hard and being me! >=(

Ya....no offense, but I have, and will continue to do allstate from 7th to 12th. My voice has never died there, or even hurt. Sorry, but I've never heard of anyone (except the soloists) have their voices die at all state.

ACK! I'M SORRY! I COMPLETELY TAKE THAT BACK! I SOMEHOW MISSED THE PART ABOUT YOUR ALLERGIES!!!!

*grovels*
Sowee?

Heehee, no big deal. But yeah, voices do tend to die when you're sick.
